Itinerary

Day 1-3: Kolkata – Colonial Heritage and Timeless Bengali Charm

Arrive in Kolkata, the “City of Joy,” with a rich tapestry of colonial elegance, intellectual vibrancy, and old-world charm. Once the capital of British India, the city’s heritage is reflected in its grand Victorian architecture, historic mansions, and the slow-moving trams that weave through its streets. A walk along the Hooghly River reveals the timeless beauty of landmarks like the Victoria Memorial and Prinsep Ghat, where the past meets the present in perfect harmony.

This is a city where tradition and modernity coexist effortlessly. Wander through Kumartuli, the artisan quarter, where skilled hands bring clay to life, crafting idols for Kolkata’s grand Durga Puja celebrations. Step into North Kolkata’s heritage lanes, where aristocratic mansions and the ancestral home of Rabindranath Tagore whisper stories of Bengal’s literary and artistic renaissance. For a moment of respite, the shaded pathways of the Maidan or the serene waters of Rabindra Sarovar offer a quiet contrast to the city’s bustling energy.

Food is an experience unto itself here. Savor a delicate Sandesh at a traditional sweet shop, indulge in Kolkata’s famed Kathi rolls on Park Street, or enjoy a leisurely Bengali feast rich with flavors of mustard, fresh fish, and fragrant rice. As evening falls, the city takes on a new rhythm, whether through live music at a heritage club, a boat ride along the Hooghly, or the simple pleasure of watching the city lights reflect off the river.

Day 4: Kalimpong:

After breakfast, take a flight to Bagdogra. In Bagdogra, you will be received and driven straight to Kalimpong,, a serene hill town where colonial charm meets Himalayan tranquility. A scenic drive along the Teesta River leads to breathtaking viewpoints like Deolo Hill and Durpin Dara, where the snow-capped Kanchenjunga stands majestically on the horizon.

On arrival, check-in at your hotel. The town’s spiritual heart lies in the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang Monastery, echoing with the hum of Buddhist chants. History comes alive at Dr. Graham’s Homes, while bustling local markets offer handcrafted treasures and flavors of the Himalayas. For a touch of adventure, rafting on the Teesta provides an adrenaline rush, while the Kalimpong Cactus Nursery surprises with its exotic blooms. Whether seeking serenity or discovery, Kalimpong offers a perfect retreat into the soul of the mountains

Day 5-7: Gangtok:

Drive further to Gangtok. Reach and settle into your luxurious hotel, where crisp mountain air and panoramic views set the tone for your journey. The next couple of days will be used to explore Gangtok with our experienced guide.

Visit Enchey Monastery, a serene retreat adorned with colorful prayer flags, before heading to the grand Rumtek Monastery, the spiritual heart of Sikkim. Later, unwind with a traditional Sikkimese meal, where local flavors and warm hospitality create a memorable dining experience.

Take an excursion to the breathtaking Tsomgo Lake, where the mirror-like waters reflect the towering peaks surrounding it. Depending on the season, you may witness the lake frozen in pristine white or adorned with wildflowers. If you're up for an adventure, continue to NathuLa Pass, a historic trade route on the Indo-Tibetan border, offering sweeping views of rugged mountain terrain. Return to Gangtok and visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology to delve into the region’s deep Buddhist heritage before relaxing at a luxury spa with a view of the Himalayas.

Also, explore the lush Flower Exhibition Centre, showcasing exotic Himalayan flora, before taking a cable car ride over the city’s rolling hills. Take a walk on the Mall road of the city. A perfect walk for a relaxed stroll amidst boutique stores and cosy cafés.

Day 8-9: Pelling:

After breakfast, check out and drive to Pelling. It is a picturesque hill town in West Sikkim, known for its breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga range and ancient monasteries.

On arrival, check-in at your proposed hotel. While the evening will be free, next day take a guided tour of Pelling. Begin your journey with a visit to the revered Pemayangtse Monastery, where centuries-old murals and the soft murmur of Buddhist chants create a profoundly peaceful atmosphere. A short walk leads to the hauntingly beautiful Rabdentse Ruins, once the capital of Sikkim, now a silent testament to the region’s royal past with sweeping views of the snow-clad peaks.

In the afternoon, walk across Pelling’s Skywalk, India’s first glass-bottomed bridge, offering a dizzying yet spectacular view of the lush valleys below, leading to the magnificent Chenrezig Statue. For those seeking solitude, a gentle trek to Sangachoeling Monastery unveils a hidden sanctuary with breathtaking landscapes. Day 10-12: Darjeeling – The Grand Finale in the Queen of the Hills

After breakfast, drive to Darjeeling. On arrival, you will be assisted to check in at your hotel. In the evening take a walk on the Mall road. Next day begin with the breathtaking sunrise at Tiger Hill, where the first light paints Kanchenjunga in golden hues. Stop at Batasia Loop to witness the Toy Train’s spiral descent and visit the Gorkha War Memorial. Ride the historic Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, then explore Happy Valley Tea Estate for a glimpse into the world of fine Darjeeling tea.

In the afternoon, visit the serene Bhutia Busty Monastery and Observatory Hill before ending your day with a relaxed stroll along Mall Road. Visit the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Japanese Peace Pagoda.

At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to Bagdogra airport to board the flight back to Delhi.
